Configuring TMANAGER
TMANAGER

The PARAM WRITEENABLE, if found and TRUE, causes TSAMPLE to write the
generated database samples to the DBSAMPL file and generated queue samples to
the QSAMPL file. If the WRITEENABLE PARAM is either not TRUE or not found,
the database and TSCHED queues are monitored and you get an alarm message,
but no samples are written.
When you configure this option, consider that you can save storage by not writing
the samples to a file, while still providing an active alarm.
This PARAM is set by the installation program, using the value specified in your
DEFINETR file.
The PARAM ROPENCTLTIME specifies the number of minutes that a control
record can remain in the ROPENCTL file before TSAMPLE generates an alarm
message.
TSAMPLE monitors the ROPENCTL file, which is the control file used by the
TWORK servers to control network OPEN requests. When a TWORK server
needs to communicate with another node in the TRANSFER network, it first
attempts to write a control record to the ROPENCTL file. If another TWORK
server is trying to reach the same node by making an OPEN request across the
network, the write of the control record fails. TWORK instead puts an entry in the
NET queue so that the request for that node can be processed later. When the
OPEN has completed, the control record is removed from the file.
The control record includes the time that the control record was written; therefore,
by examining records in the file it is possible to determine how long an OPEN
request to a node has been in progress. Control records should not be in the file
for longer than five minutes. If an individual control record is in the file for longer
than that, a network problem is preventing the completion of the OPEN.
When TSAMPLE detects control records that have been in the ROPENCTL file too
long, it generates an alarm message if the active alarm is enabled. This alarm
message indicates that there is a network problem with the node.
The installation programs do not include this PARAM. You configure the
ROPENCTLTIME PARAM to specify the amount of time that a control record can
exist in the ROPENCTL file before TSAMPLE generates an alarm message. The
default is five minutes.
