TMF Environment TMFCOM, the command interface to the Transaction Monitoring Facility (TMF),
allows you to monitor and control TMF, to perform online dumps of the TRANSFER
database files, and to recover the database files after a system failure.
As a system manager, you establish the initial TMF configuration. TMFCOM can then
be used to display the status of operations within TMF and to perform other
transaction control operations. Establish a regular schedule for online dumps of the
TRANSFER database files. Frequent dumping of the database files provides for faster
recovery after a system failure; however, dumping files uses system resources, which
is time-consuming for system operators and can slow down the ongoing transaction
processing.
System operators use TMFCOM to perform online dumps of the TRANSFER database
files. If a system failure occurs, the tapes or disks containing the online dumps can be
used to recover the TRANSFER system to a consistent state; a system operator uses
TMFCOM to recover the database.
