System Configuration Requirements
The TRANSFER Environment

Terminal Requirements
Terminals that use PS MAIL 6530 and the ADMIN and TMANAGER applications
supplied with Base TRANSFER must be Tandem 6530 terminals or compatible
terminals. Terminals that use PS MAIL 3270 must be IBM 3270 terminals or
compatible terminals.
PS MAIL 6530 or PS MAIL 3270 users of the EDIT function must have their terminals
configured in ITI mode. The TRANSFER process server, which is responsible for
invoking the editor, cannot perform the terminal configuration changes required for
editing if the terminal is configured in CRT mode.
The method of configuring terminals in ITI mode depends on the type of
communication lines:
For terminals connected with asynchronous communication lines, see the System
Generation Manual.
For terminals connected with synchronous communication lines, see the
Communications Management Interface (CMI) Operator’s Guide.
TMF Configuration
You establish the TMF configuration required by TRANSFER through TMFCOM
commands. Configuring TMF includes entering commands to:
Create the audit trails
Define the audit dump processes
Initialize TMF if it is not already installed
Before you can initialize TRANSFER and before you can run a TRANSFER application,
you must start TMF. TRANSFER checks to ensure that TMF is running and cannot
process certain requests that are not within the scope of a TMF transaction. Refer to
the Transaction Monitoring Facility (TMF) Management and Operations Guide for detailed
information on using TMFCOM to configure and start TMF.
