TRANSFER Installation and Management Guide
Steps to Install the System
System Installation Example
13198 Tandem Computers Incorporated E–7
Step 11: Add
Correspondents
When the TRANSFER system is brought up, there is only one correspondent in the
system: SYS-ADMIN. To test information delivery, at least one more correspondent is
needed.
To add more correspondents, the system manager starts the ADMIN program:
> PATHCOM $TXPM
= RUN ADMIN
The system manager logs on to ADMIN as the correspondent SYS-ADMIN, with no
password, selects the CORRESPONDENTS screen, and adds more correspondents by
filling in names and pressing F7.
Step 12: Attach Agent to
Correspondent Depot
The system manager then follows the protocol for attaching an agent to the
appropriate correspondent or correspondents for testing. Agents are added through
the AGENTS screen in ADMIN; details appear under “Configuring User-Written
Agents” in Section 11 of this manual.
Step 13: Run Clients To run the Tandem mail client, the system manager types:
> PATHCOM $TXPM
= RUN M6530-1
To run the test client, the system manager types:
> PATHCOM $TXPM
= RUN TEST-CLIENT1
Step 14: Test Agents To see whether the agent is functioning correctly, the system manager can check the
agent’s behavior or use INSPECT and set a breakpoint on the agent program name.
See “How to Use INSPECT with the Agent Tester” in the TRANSFER Programming
Guide, Section 11.
Step 15 : Stop the System To stop the system at any time, the system manager types:
> VOLUME $DISKA.TRANCNFG
> RUN XSTOP
