Steps to Change the
System
If the system manager later wants to change any components of the system, here are
the steps to follow:
1. Run XSTOP to stop the TRANSFER system.
2. Make the changes. The changes usually involve changing the values for
reconfigurable parameters or altering the PATHWAY configuration by adding
PATHCOM commands in the CUSTCNFG file.
In addition, the system manager might want to add more clients or agents to the
system. To add more clients or to add more agents that are PATHWAY servers in
languages other than SCREEN COBOL, the system manager adds PATHCOM
commands to the CUSTCNFG file. To add agents that are SCREEN COBOL
requesters, the system manager compiles the agent source code into the SCREEN
COBOL object library that was specified for TRAgentTclprog in the DEFINETR
file.
3. If any changes were made to the Base TRANSFER configuration, the system
manager runs CDTRDEF and specifies REDEFINE.
Similarly, if any changes were made to the PS MAIL 6530 configuration, the
system manager runs CDMLDEF and specifies REDEFINE.
If changes were made only in the CUSTCNFG file, the system manager can skip
this step.
4. Run XCNFG to reassemble the system.
5. Run XCOOL to restart the system.
Define File Contents The following pages show the contents of the define files for Base TRANSFER and
PS MAIL 6530 for the sample system. Only the actual configuration is shown; to read
the descriptive comments in typical DEFINETR and DEFINEML files, see Appendix A.

does not use the INITIALS variable in process names.
