Bulletin board. A folder for an interest group. Group members can read items in the
group bulletin board folder and save items to the bulletin board for other members to
read.
Character map. A set of codes that establishes the correspondence between the native
form of a character and a character in the base character set. In effect, this map is a set
of rules for encoding or representing characters in that set. It determines how
characters entered from the keyboard are interpreted, and how characters put out to
various devices are generated by TRANSFER.
Character set. A set or collection of characters. TRANSFER uses a Base character set
and a Name character set.
Cleanup TAREQ. A special TAREQ pseudo-terminal configured to perform only
priority 0 housekeeping work on your TRANSFER system.
Client. A requester program that provides the interface between correspondents and
TRANSFER. The client directs requests to the TRANSFER interactive server through
the TRANSFER IPC interface. Every TRANSFER application requires at least one
client.
Client profile. A depot profile that contains information used by the TRANSFER clients
for the correspondent, such as the name of the default formatter and editor programs.
CMI (Communications Management Interface). A Tandem software product that helps you
monitor your network.
Configuration subvolume. A subvolume that contains define files you provide to describe
the TRANSFER system and generated files to control the system. The default
configuration subvolume name used in the installation procedures is TRANCNFG.
Correspondent. A sender or receiver of information within the TRANSFER system. A
correspondent can be a person, an interest group, a process, or a device.
Correspondent profile. A depot profile that describes the correspondent to TRANSFER.
The profile provides default values for package delivery parameters and operational
parameters used when the correspondent has a session in progress.
Country name. The name of the country that is assigned to a TRANSFER correspondent;
the country name comes from the configuration parameters when the X400 gateway is
installed on a node. All TRANSFER correspondents registered on nodes grouped into
the same domain have the same country name.
Courier. An application that provides electronic-forms processing, including automatic
routing and manager approvals.
CUP (Communications Utility Program). A Tandem software product that helps you
monitor your network.
DDL. The Data Definition Language that is used to describe the records and files
comprising a database and the formats of interprocess messages.
