Default model depot. The depot whose profiles are copied when a model depot is not
specified for a new correspondent. The default model depot is established when
TRANSFER is initialized.
Default model group depot. The group depot whose profiles are copied when a model
depot is not specified for a new group. The default model group depot is established
when TRANSFER is initialized.
Defaults file. A file that contains keyword parameters and default values to be used as
the source of a define file.
Define file. A file that contains keyword parameters and values that define a
component of a TRANSFER system.
Definition program. A TRANSFER installation program that processes information in a
define file to define initially or to redefine a component of a TRANSFER system.
Delete item. The act of deleting an item from the TRANSFER database. Compare
Unsave item.
Delivery. The action when TRANSFER places a package in the INBOX folder of a
recipient.
Delivery window. The period of time between earliest and latest possible delivery for a
package.
Depot. That part of the TRANSFER database that is associated with a particular
correspondent or interest group. A private depot is privately owned by an individual
correspondent, and a group depot is shared among all the correspondents belonging
to the interest group associated with that depot. A depot includes the profiles, folders,
and distribution lists that belong to the correspondent or the interest group.
Depot owner. The correspondent for whom the depot was created.
Depot profile. A profile record that contains standard information specific to a
particular depot, such as a password and default delivery information. When a new
depot is created, all profile records in a model depot are copied into the new depot.
Depot statistics facility. The umbrella term for the feature of TRANSFER that configures,
computes, collects, stores, and accesses statistics for item, folder, and depot storage.
Depot storage average statistics. Displayed on the AVERAGE STATISTICS screen, the
most recently collected sample averages if the depot storage facility is keeping
previous samples and sample averages.
Depot storage facility configuration period. The period for which depot storage statistics
configuration parameters remain constant; a new configuration period begins when
you change any of the parameters and then run XCOOL. The concept of the
configuration period is key to understanding the boundaries of current and old
statistics.
Depot storage old average statistics. Displayed on the OLD AVERAGE STATISTICS
screen, the sample averages taken during the preceding configuration period if you
were keeping previous samples and sample averages.
