Name server (NAMESRV). A TRANSFER process that manages the TRANSFER name
directory.
Name space. The database managed by the TRANSFER name server. It contains lists of
all correspondents on a node of a TRANSFER system, all distribution lists and folders
owned by those correspondents, and the relationships between all correspondents and
the distribution lists and folders they own. It also contains entries for most of the
configuration entities defined in the system. (The names of the TRANSFER special
folders and the system trigger character, however, are defined elsewhere.)
Named item. An item, saved in a folder, to which a name is assigned. Correspondents
and clients can retrieve the item by referencing its folder and item name.
NALOAD program. A program you run to change the TRANSFER configuration entries
stored in the Name files when you move Base TRANSFER data files (other than the
name directory files).
Native form. A character as entered by, or displayed to, a user at an input-output
device.
NET queue. One of the four queues for which TSAMPLE collects—at configurable
intervals—counts of work scheduled. The NET queue contains requests for delivery
over the network that cannot be processed at initial submission. If a remote system is
not available, an entry is moved from the READY queue to the NET queue for retry
later.
Node. A computer system that is part of a Tandem network of computer systems. A
node address is designated by a symbol before the name (for example, @NY).
Object. A generic term for entities managed by TRANSFER. Objects can be:
correspondents, depots, distribution lists, folders, items, packages, and profiles.
Ordering criteria. The ordering discipline of a folder, including the ascending or
descending and duplicates options.
Ordering discipline. The information TISERV uses as the ordering key when saving
items in a folder.
Organization name. In a Tandem X400 network, the organization name is the name of
the node where the correspondent is registered. The backslash in the node name is not
included in the X400 name.
Originator. A user that is sending an X400 message.
O/R Address. Originator/Recipient address that provides routing information for an
X.400 message delivery system. O/R addresses are functionally like TRANSFER
names, but they contain more attributes.
OSI/MHS (Open Systems Interconnection/Message Handling System). The Tandem
implementation of an X.400 message handling system.
