OUTLOG folder. A special folder, automatically created for each correspondent, where
PS MAIL automatically files a copy of each message a correspondent sends. Messages
stay in the OUTLOG for the length of time configured, usually 24 hours. The
OUTLOG cannot be deleted.
P1. X.400 protocol used to format and route messages through the X400 network.
P1 message. An X400 message that consists of an envelope and its content. The
envelope contains delivery information; the content is the actual information that is to
be delivered to the recipient. The combination of an envelope and its content is
functionally equivalent to a TRANSFER package. If you submit a package with an
X400 recipient, the X400 gateway generates a P1 message for your package.
P2. X.400 protocol used to format mail messages. In TRANSFER terms, a nonmail
message is a message that is not a P2 message.
P2 message. An X400 message that consists of a heading followed by a series of data
blocks. The heading contains the message originator, recipients, and other service
information. Each body part can contain a different form of data, and messages can be
nested within body parts.
Package. A collection of information that can be sent from one correspondent to other
correspondents. A package contains at least one item.
Package header. An item that indicates the sender, the recipient list, priority, and
delivery and expiration timeframes of a package.
Package lifespan. The maximum length of time TRANSFER monitors a package. If a
package has an expiration time, the lifespan is the time period from posting to
scheduled expiration. If a package does not have an expiration time, the lifespan is the
time period from posting to latest possible delivery.
PATHWAY. A transaction processing system that supplies the programs, procedures,
and structures necessary to produce user-written applications.
Pattern. A partial name entered when requesting a list of correspondent, folder, or
distribution list names. An asterisk indicates that any characters can appear in that
position. Only those names that match the pattern are listed. Contrast with Wild-card
character.
PDU (Protocol Data Units) store. The database that stores messages in an X.400 system.
Personal name. The personal name that is assigned to a TRANSFER correspondent.
The surname part of the personal name is the TRANSFER correspondent name.
Primary attachment. The attachment of a primary external object to a TRANSFER item.
Primary external object. An external object that contains item data transportable to other
nodes. Primary external objects can be attached to TRANSFER items.
Private Management Domain (PRMD). An X400 domain managed by a private
organization, such as a company like Tandem. See Domain.
PRMD. See Private Management Domain.
