The TRANSFER Environment
068837, Update 1 to 013198 Tandem Computers Incorporated 2–31
1. Mary and John are correspondents at different nodes in a network.
2. Each of them has a correspondent name registered in the TRANSFER name
directory at the respective node.
3. Each of them has a depot in the TRANSFER database at the respective node.
4. The PS MAIL TTY client has a session in progress for Mary.
5. Mary has a package in her depot ready for delivery to John.
6. The PS MAIL TTY client has sent a request to TISERV to submit the package for
delivery.
7. TISERV prepares the package for delivery.
8. TISERV writes a submit-package entry to the Ready file and attempts to contact
TSCHED to schedule the package delivery.
9. TSCHED processes the package for delivery.
10. A TAREQ at \NY node takes responsibility for the package.
11. The responsible TAREQ makes a request of a TWORK at the \NY node to
transport the package.
12. The TWORK makes requests of a TRECV at the \CHIC node to receive transport
of the package.
13. TRECV writes a submit-package entry to the Ready file and attempts to contact
TSCHED to schedule the package delivery.
14. TSCHED processes the package for delivery.
15. A TAREQ at \CHIC node takes responsibility for the package.
16. The TAREQ requests TISERV-ASYNC to place the package in the INBOX folder of
John’s depot.
17. The TAREQ checks the agents assigned to John’s depot to determine which agents
to invoke to signal package arrival.
18. If John has configured a received-mail agent, it sends a message to his terminal.
19. John returns, sees the message, and invokes PS MAIL 6530.
