The X400 Gateway
Node
The TRANSFER X400 gateway performs data mapping between TRANSFER-format
messages and X.400-format messages. The gateway consists of five server classes:
X400-EXPORTER
The X400 export server (X400-EXPORTER) handles messages being exported from
TRANSFER to the X400 network. This server class can run multiple processes.
X400-IMPORTER
The X400 import server (X400-IMPORTER) handles messages coming into
TRANSFER from the X400 network. This server class can run multiple processes.
TDB-SERV
The TRANSFER database server (TDB-SERV) provides access to the TRANSFER
database for the export server and the import server. This server class can run
multiple processes.
X400-EMSERV
The X400 entry manager server (X400-EMSERV) handles enqueuing, reading, and
dequeuing queue entries on the Queue Manager X400 queue file (X400QUEU).
This server class can run multiple processes.
X400-WMSERV
The X400 wait manager server (X400-WMSERV) handles waiting for new queue
entries. The wait manager is a single-process server class. X400-WMSERV is a
single server process.
The export server and the import server share a queue file configured to schedule the
transport of messages.
When you configure a TRANSFER system as a gateway node, all five server processes
are automatically in the PATHWAY configuration.
Figure 3-5 illustrates the architecture of a TRANSFER X400 gateway node. The figure
includes the MR group, which is the functional part of the Tandem OSI/MHS system
with which the gateway communicates. (The Tandem OSI/MHS Configuration and
Management Manual tells you how to configure MR groups.)
