Preparing the Define
Files
The TRANSFER installation procedures provide default files from which you create
define files. A default file for each component that you have purchased is included on
the TRANSFER distribution subvolume (DSV). The DSV for each component contains
the software for that component.
Following the instructions in Section 4, “Preparing to Install a TRANSFER System,”
copy the DSVs to your own user-DSVs. The instructions for using installation
procedures assume that you have prepared the user-DSVs. The default files on the
TRANSFER user-DSV include:
TRDEFLTS—Base TRANSFER default file
MLDEFLTS—PS MAIL 6530 default file
IMDEFLTS—PS MAIL 3270 default file
CMDEFLTS—PS MAIL TTY default file
X4DEFLTS—X400 gateway default file
Follow these steps to prepare the define files:
1. Copy the default files to one subvolume, which becomes your configuration
subvolume. Copy the default file for only the components that you wish to
include in your system. In creating your configuration subvolume, ensure that the
configuration subvolume is a separate subvolume from a user-DSV.
2. Rename the files as follows:
TRDEFLTS becomes DEFINETR
MLDEFLTS becomes DEFINEML
IMDEFLTS becomes DEFINEIM
CMDEFLTS becomes DEFINECM
X4DEFLTS becomes DEFINEX4
3. Edit each define file. See the next subsection, "Editing Define Files," for details.
