Simple TRANSFER Names A simple TRANSFER name can have a maximum of 32 characters. These characters
must be chosen from the name character set configured for TRANSFER, as discussed
later in this section. The character sets in effect for a particular TRANSFER system
apply to all nodes on which the system is running.
On TRANSFER systems configured with the standard TRANSFER name character set,
simple names can include any of the following characters:
Letters A through Z (Uppercase and lowercase are equivalent.)
Digits 0 through 9
Underscore (_) (Underscore and hyphen are not equivalent.)
Hyphen (-)
All non-English characters included in the International Organization for
Standardization (ISO) 8859/1 standard
For more information on these characters, see the TRANSFER Programming Guide.
Blanks and periods are not allowed within a simple TRANSFER name.
System Trigger
The system trigger is the character that introduces system names when they appear in
TRANSFER names. The at sign (@) is the default system trigger.
For example, BRADLEY_ANNE @TM designates a correspondent whose depot is
located at system TM. TRANSFER recognizes the system-trigger character and uses
the system trigger whenever a name with a network qualifier is sent.
If a terminal character set does not include the at-sign character (@), the block-mode
mail clients, PS MAIL 6530 and PS MAIL 3270, substitute an ampersand (&) on the
screen.
The system trigger must be the same on all nodes of a TRANSFER network.
