National Language
Support
You can use TRANSFER not only in English but also in several other national
languages. PS MAIL 6530 and PS MAIL 3270 users can see screen labels, the names of
the TRANSFER special folders, error messages, help text, and the names of the
TRANSFER special folders in their native language. For example, a German user can
refer to INBOX, OUTLOG, and WASTEBASKET as EINGANGSPOST,
AUSGANGSPOST, and PAPIERKORB.
The languages that are available for TRANSFER block-mode mail clients include the
following:
Danish
Dutch
English
Finnish
French
German
Hebrew
Italian
Norwegian
Spanish
Swedish
Some of these languages are available only in PS MAIL 6530 and not for
PS MAIL 3270.
In a single TRANSFER system, you can use any language in combination with any
other language, except that you can use Hebrew in combination with English only.
Section 9, “Using ADMIN to Administer TRANSFER,” discusses national language
support.
Character Sets
A standard base character set and a standard name character set are defined for
TRANSFER and furnished with the system. These character sets include the
following:
The base character set is the group of all characters that your TRANSFER system
stores and makes available for message text.
The name character set is part of the base character set; it is the group of characters
that TRANSFER accepts for the names to identify certain objects: correspondents,
distribution lists, folders, and named items within folders.
