TRANSFER Installation and Management Guide

PATHWAY Process Names
Defining a TRANSFER System
068837, Update 1 to 013198 Tandem Computers Incorporated 5–15
If you use this name specification and specify three TRAN-TCPs, the process names
generated are $ZTTA, $ZTTB, and $ZTTC. If you specify only one TRAN-TCP, only
$ZTTA is generated.
To change the names, enter a new root and specify a beginning character and an
ending character. The beginning and ending characters can be either letters or digits,
but both must be of the same type—for example: P:Z or 5:9. You can use the same
beginning and ending character if you need only one process name.
When you change the default names, the resulting names must be valid PATHWAY
process names.
Default Process Names
The installation procedures provide all configured processes with a default name
specification that generates a valid PATHWAY process name.
The process names begin with a prefix. The particular prefix identifies the TRANSFER
component for which the process is configured. The process-name prefixes for the
components are:
$ZT—Processes configured for Base TRANSFER
$ZC—Processes configured for the TRANSFER clients
$ZX—Processes configured for the TRANSFER X400 gateway
The following default process names are exceptions to these prefix conventions:
$T—Name server
$TRPM—PATHMON process name
$TSCH—TSCHED server
$Z4T0 through $Z4T9—TDB-SERV (X400 gateway database server)
All the process names provided by default are listed below by category:
PATHMON process name is $TRPM.
Base TRANSFER server classes
Single-process servers
$T—A-NAME (name server for Base TRANSFER)
$TSCH—A-TSCHED (TSCHED server for Base TRANSFER)
$ZTXT—A-BASE-TEXT (text server for Base TRANSFER)
$ZTSM—SMSERV (system-management server for Base TRANSFER)
$ZTSP—TSAMPLE (sampler server for Base TRANSFER)
$ZTST—SPREP (depot statistics initialization program)
