P1 Message Contents
X400 Services
6–40 069138, Update 1 to 040970 Tandem Computers Incorporated
The content of an outbound P1 message depends on item type:
If the package contains a mail message, the gateway concatenates the text and
places carriage-return and line-feed characters between text records. The gateway
maps the package header item and each component item of type 120 to separate
text body parts.
If the package does not contain a mail message, the gateway stores outbound data
sequentially. Record types 210 through 222 and 800 through 899 are not included.
External objects are processed sequentially from position 1 to the last position.
Component lists are not included.
The gateway stores data from an incoming X400 message according to item type:
If the package contains a mail message, the gateway maps IA5 text body parts to
separate text items of type 120 and attaches the items as components of the
package header. Carriage return and line feed characters are not stored in the
data.
The gateway attaches message body parts as original, forward, reply,
reconstructed, or reconstructed forward item types, depending on settings for the
body part. The gateway rejects all other types of body parts.
If the package does not contain a mail (P2) message, the gateway stores data in an
odd unstructured file and attaches the file as a primary external object of type 170.
All P1 fields are processed. The package header has one item data record of type
210, containing the X.400 content type.
