Correspondents A correspondent can be a person, an input/output device, or a process, as illustrated
in Figure 3-1. Each correspondent is assigned a unique name that explicitly identifies
both the correspondent and the node where the correspondent receives packages. The
TRANSFER delivery system keeps track of all correspondent names in its own
database.
