Management Domains The nodes in an X.400 network are organized into management domains that define
organizational boundaries within the network. There are two types of domains:
An Administration Management Domain (ADMD) can send, receive, and route
messages from other domains. The ADMD concept was created so that public
message-handling services (such as public utilities) or private message-handling
services could be distinguished from domains run by private organizations.
ADMDs can be defined within a country or can extend across country boundaries.
