To support X400, the TRANSFER delivery system provides X400 UOWs, status
packages, and configuration settings.

This subsection describes how X400 features work from within the TRANSFER
environment. The section includes the following:
Domains and O/R names from a TRANSFER perspective
Basic steps for sending and receiving X400 packages
A list of X400 UOWs
A list of X400 status packages
You can find information about specific service elements and their corresponding
UOWs in "X400 Gateway Service Elements," later in this section.
TRANSFER Domains The TRANSFER system manager groups TRANSFER nodes into PRMD domains at
configuration time. Each domain has a single gateway node that communicates with
an X.400 network. When you send a package to a foreign recipient, the TRANSFER
delivery system sends the package to the gateway node of the domain. The gateway
translates the message into its X400 equivalent and sends the message to the X.400
network.
