RETN-CODE-DETAIL
is an error number returned by a subsystem other than the TRANSFER delivery
system or is a further qualification of an error detected by the TRANSFER delivery
system.
CREATE-GROUP Operation
CREATE-GROUP adds a new local interest group to the system by entering the group
name in the TRANSFER name directory, and creates a depot for that group. The name
directory entry for the group will contain the group name, node name, and other
network-accessible group attributes.
If a local group, correspondent, or PUBLIC distribution list with the name specified in
NEW-GROUP already exists or if a creation error occurs, the TRANSFER delivery
system does not create the group.
The group depot created has an INBOX folder and two permanent distribution lists,
MEMBERS and ADMIN. Unlike a correspondent depot, the group depot does not
have the WASTEBASKET or OUTLOG special folders. If a valid local correspondent
name was specified as an INITIAL-MEMBER, that name is added to both the
MEMBERS and ADMIN distribution lists.
The correspondent that created the group has owner privileges and administrative
privileges with respect to the group. (The group creator does not necessarily have to
become a group member.)
If the name supplied for MODEL-GROUP is a correspondent name rather than group
depot, the error E-MODEL-NOT-GROUP is returned. If the name supplied in NEW-
GROUP contains a remote node name, the error E-GROUP-NOT-SAME-NODE is
returned.
The new group name must not be the same as an existing local group or correspondent
name. If the name supplied for NEW-GROUP has already been allocated to a local
group, the error E-GROUP-ALREADY-EXISTS is returned. If a local correspondent has
the same simple name as the new group name, the error E-CORR-ALREADY-EXISTS
is returned.
If the depot storage statistics facility is active, a record for this group is added to the
DEPSTAT file.
