DEL-GROUP-MEMBER Operation
DEL-GROUP-MEMBER removes one or more local members of an interest group. The
member specified must be a direct member of the interest group. If the group profile
indicates that voluntary signup is permitted, existing group members can remove
themselves from the group; otherwise, the current correspondent must be one of the
following:
A system administrator with write privileges
A group administrator
The correspondent that created the group
If the DELETE-ALL-FLAG is set to Y, all members of the group are deleted. If the
DELETE-ALL-FLAG is set to N (the default value), the members to be deleted are
specified explicitly in GROUP-MEMBER-NAMES. The member names must be direct
members of the group; otherwise, the error E-MBR-NOT-DIRECT is returned.
If GROUP-NAME specifies the PUBLIC group, the additional PUBLIC search list in
the depot of each group member is removed for all correspondents referenced in
GROUP-MEMBER-NAMES that are no longer members of the PUBLIC group. The
deletion of the PUBLIC search list record from a correspondent's depot does not affect
any sessions in progress for the correspondent. All new sessions use the updated
search lists.
To help prevent accidentally deleting all group members from a group, the error
E-INVALID-NUM-RQSTD is returned when the DELETE-ALL-FLAG is set to Y and
the NUM-WANTED field contains a nonzero value.
The TRANSFER delivery system automatically keeps the membership of the group's
MEMBERS and ADMIN distribution lists synchronized with the group membership.
