NonStop TS/MP Management Programming Manual—540082-001
xiii
Changes in the July 1996 Revision of the Manual
Product Changes
This manual edition documents these changes in the D42 product version:
•
The PATHMON configuration file (PATHCTL) can now be made node independent.
To support this feature, these changes have been made to the management
programming interface:
°
A new value, \*, when used in place of a node name, assigns node
independence to an attribute. This value can be used in configuration
commands to specify the default node to be the node where the PATHMON
process is currently running.
°
The START PATHWAY command has been enhanced to allow attributes with
unspecified node names to default to the node where the PATHMON process
is running. The effect on those attributes is the same as if \* had been specified
for the node names of the attributes.
°
The INFO commands have been enhanced (including a new token,
ZPWY-DDL-PAR-INFO) to return \* for node-independent attributes.
°
Note that some attributes in existing configurations might have names tied to
specific nodes and might, therefore, require careful configuration or manual
changes after switching nodes.
•
Swap space for user data segments is now handled by the Kernel-Managed Swap
Facility (KMSF). As a result, swap files are now created by KMSF rather than by
the PATHMON process and any values configured for the ZGUARDIANSWAP field
are not used. However, configured values for these fields must specify existing
devices, or an error occurs.
•
A new PATHMON message, error 1164, has been added to support the new
product packaging.
Enhancements to the Manual
These enhancements have been made to the material in this manual:
•
Syntax: Definitions for tokens used in all commands and responses are now
described in see Section 4, SPI and EMS Standard Definitions through Section 7,
ZPWY-MAP- Definitions. Command and response descriptions show only
simplified syntax; detailed syntax, including all fields and subfields, is shown in see
Section 4, SPI and EMS Standard Definitions through Section 7, ZPWY-MAP-
Definitions.
•
Messages: Cause, effect, and recovery information for some messages has been
rewritten. In addition, messages in the 3000-3999 range that can be reported by
the LINKMON process are now located in a new section in this manual.
(Previously, all messages in that range were documented as TCP messages,
which are now described in the Pathway/iTS Management Programming Manual.)
