SWITCH PM
Considerations
•
Use the Guardian LOOKUPPROCESS procedure to identify the CPUs in which the
PATHMON primary and backup processes are actually running after you have
repeatedly issued the SWITCH PM command.
•
To record the CPU definitions in the PATHMON configuration file, use the
CONTROL PM command.
•
Whenever the PATHMON primary or backup process is stopped more than 10
times by a TACL STOP command, the PATHMON process delays creating a
backup process. PATHMON process delays creating a backup process by 1
minute if stopped 11 times, 2 minutes if stopped 12 times, and so forth.
However, PATHMON process does not delay creating a backup process if any of
these occur:
°
The CPU in which PATHMON process or its backup process is executing fails.
°
A SWITCH PM command is executed.
°
A CONTROL PM command is executed with a value in the ZBACKUPCPU
field.
In addition to not delaying the creation of a backup process if the preceding
conditions occur, the PATHMON process resets its internal counter. Consequently,
10 more TACL STOP commands must be executed before the PATHMON process
delays creating the backup process.
