Managing the Pathsend
Environment
The Pathsend Environment
This section discusses the Pathsend environment, which consists of Pathsend
processes and LINKMON processes, and the tasks you perform to manage the
Pathsend environment.
Pathsend Processes
Pathsend processes are user-written Guardian programs that use Pathsend procedure
calls to communicate with server classes. The Pathsend procedure calls are part of
the operating system library.

LINKMON Processes
LINKMON processes are supplied by HP. Together with the PATHMON process,
LINKMON processes control communication between Pathsend processes and server
classes. These properties of LINKMON processes are described in the subsections
that follow. Details on monitoring LINKMON processes are described later in this
section.

LINKMON Tasks
A LINKMON process is a multitasking process that handles the interface to Pathway
servers from requesters other than SCREEN COBOL requesters. Such requesters
include the Pathsend processes such as those created by RSC on behalf of its
