LINKMON Processes
For more information about the commands listed in Table 6-1, see Section 10,
PATHCOM Operation Commands, Section 11, PATHMON Environment Control
Commands and Section 12, SERVER Commands.
If you have the NonStop TS/MP installed on your system, a LINKMON process is
included by default in the system image for each processor. A LINKMON process
starts in each processor as the processor is loaded; you cannot start LINKMON
processes with a TACL RUN command.
Process Names
LINKMON process names appear in PATHCOM displays in the form L\system.$ZLnn,
where nn is the number of the processor on which the LINKMON process resides.
PATHCOM adds an L before the system name to indicate that it is a LINKMON
process, for example:
L\ABC.$ZL05
Initialization
The LINKMON process in a processor does not initialize itself until a requester in that
processor calls the Pathsend SERVERCLASS_SEND_ or
SERVERCLASS_DIALOG_BEGIN_ procedure. Successful initialization of the
LINKMON process results in a message to the system log, $0. For example, if the
LINKMON process in processor 1 is successfully initialized, it logs this message. (For
a list of LINKMON log messages, see Section 16, LINKMON Log Messages.)
LINKMON ($ZL01) - Initialized and running
Once initialized, a LINKMON process executes until the processor halts or is reset.
If the LINKMON process initialization fails, the LINKMON process performs:
STATS SERVER Displays resource usage and performance statistics on a
LINKMON process linked to a specific server class
STATUS LINKMON Checks the status of LINKMON processes that have links
to server classes in the Pathway environment
STATUS PATHMON Identifies the LINKMON processes currently communicating
with the PATHMON process
STATUS PATHWAY Determines the number of LINKMON processes
communicating with a Pathway environment
STATUS SERVER Identifies the LINKMON process linked to a specific server
class
THAW SERVER Allows LINKMON processes to send requests to frozen
server classes
