Tuning Your System by Using Statistics
NonStop TS/MP System Management Manual—541819-001
7-3
Queue Info
Table 7-1 shows the statistics for the server-class wait queue and what they indicate.
If these statistics show that requests are queueing, you might want to consider taking
steps to reduce queueing and improve response time. Such steps could include
reconfiguring your system or modifying the application.
REQ CNT
REQ CNT indicates the number of requests for a link to a server that could not be
satisfied immediately.
You can compare this number with the REQ CNT number for I/O INFO (see I/O Info
earlier in this section) to determine what percentage of the transactions requesting a
link to a particular server experienced some delay.
In a well-tuned system (with no dynamic servers), the only delay should be at startup
time, when initial link(s) are granted to servers in the server class. If statistics are reset
after startup, the server queue counts should be 0. If the server queue counts are not
0, then you should increase the number of static servers.

Table 7-1. Server Statistics for QUEUE INFO
Statistic For Server-Class Wait Queue, Indicates:
REQ CNT Number of requests for a link that could not be satisfied immediately
% WAIT Percentage of requests for a link (based on REQ CNT) that the LINKMON
process queues when one or more other requests are already queued for
the server class
MAX WAITS Greatest number of requests in queue for a link before the LINKMON
process adds another send request to the queue
AVG WAITS How many requests were waiting, on average, during the sample period
% DYNAMIC Number of server class requests that are on the LINKMON process LINK
queue and have a CREATEDELAY timeout value
