Tuxedo 6.5.3 README
Prepare to run IPSetup by performing the following steps:
1. If you have an existing NonStop(TM) TUXEDO application, follow
Step 1A or 1B depending on the version. Also, see the
"Release Guide" in the NonStop(TM) TUXEDO Documentation set for
application upgrade information.
1A. If you use the earlier R6.5 (July 1999 or December 1999) versions,
stop all the NonStop(TM) TUXEDO applications.
1B. If you use either the Release 1 or Release 2 version, either
stop all NonStop(TM) TUXEDO applications running on the system,
or rename any of the following files that are open in
$SYSTEM.SYSTEM: DIST, DISTLIB, SUPE, TSCHELP, and TSMPCOM.
Discussion: Step 1B eliminates file conflicts with the earlier
version NonStop(TM) TUXEDO installations.
When updating the ISVs, IPSetup attempts to purge existing
files in the ISV during processing. If a NonStop(TM) TUXEDO
application is running, IPSetup is not able to purge files,
such as SUPE, DIST and so forth, and terminates.
Note: If either NonStop(TM) TUXEDO Release 2 or an earlier
Version of NonStop(TM) TUXEDO Release 6.5 is already installed,
NonStop(TM) TS/MP components T0022, T7926, and T0280, are probably
already running on the system. The files that make up TS/MP are
ROUT, SUPE, DIST, DISTLIB, TSCHELP, and TSMPCOM. Compaq recommends
that you update all these TS/MP components with the version
present on the distribution CD.
(The actual installation requirement, however, is that some
version of the NonStop(TM) TS/MP T0022, T7926, and T0280
components be present on your system.)
2. Ensure that you, the installation user, are not listed in
$SYSTEM.ZTCPIP.FTPUSERS.
Discussion: If you try to install products using IPSetup and
your user ID is listed in $SYSTEM.ZTCPIP.FTPUSERS, the
installation fails at the point where IPSetup tries to transfer
(ftp command) the files from the PC to the NonStop(TM) Himalaya
system. This failure occurs in a typical situation when you
install the product using the super.super ID and, for common
security reasons, the super.super ID is forbidden ftp access.
3. If when you use IPSetup, IPSetup fails with error 550 indicating
it was unable to do a "chdir" to the subvolume specified, ensure
that you use a userID that does not have an initial OSS
directory.
Discussion: IPSetup assumes ftp is using the Guardian API.
If the user ID specified to IPSetup has an initial OSS directory
(that is, the SAFEGUARD attribute initial-directory is set) then
ftp uses the OSS API and IPSetup fails with error 550 indicating
it was unable to do a "chdir" to the subvolume specified. To
work around this problem, alter the userID by removing the
initial-directory set and rerun IPSetup.
To reset the attribute, type the following command at the TACL
prompt:
