I. Basic Product Installation Instructions

1. Ensure that requirements for using this product are met

(see Section IV Product Requirements below).

2. Ensure that prerequisites for the installation utility and any

product-specific installation requirements are met

(see Section V Installation Prerequisites below).

3. Review the file USRGUIDE.PDF (in the subdirectory NSK_SW on this

CD) containing the IPSetup User Guide, which provides instructions

for using IPSetup, a utility provided on the CD that enables

installation of Independent Products. You need Adobe Acrobat Reader

(available on this CD) to read or print the IPSetup User Guide.

4. Follow the pre-installation instructions in Section II below before

continuing to Step 5.

5. Run IPSetup and uncheck the "Use DSM/SCM" box, to allow IPSetup to

move the NonStop Kernel files to the correct ISVs. Newer releases

of DSM/SCM may unpackage NonStop Tuxedo's PAX files, and NonStop

If TCP/IP and FTP are unavailable, or if you have problems with automatic file placement, use the instructions in the IPSetup User Guide section "Manual Software Placement Using the IPSetup TACL Program" to manually move NonStop Kernel files.

If necessary, rename the existing ROUT in the SYSNN and copy the ROUT file from the CD that was placed in the SYSNN ISV during the IPSetup operation. The result is an inconsistent Queue Space, which must be destroyed and recreated. This problem can happen when the expiration time of a message is within an application's SANITYSCAN interval of its birth time. A message can acquire such a birth time if it is aborted and its queue has a retry delay.

This occurs with tuxwsvr in R6.5 V3, and also R8.0, where it is a more serious problem because the majority of R8.0 documentation is delivered as PDF files. On a Windows machine, one workaround is to save the file locally, changing its extension from "htm" to "pdf", then open the local copy of the file.
