I. Basic Product Installation Instructions

1. Ensure that requirements for using this product are met

(see Section IV Product Requirements below).

2. Ensure that prerequisites for the installation utility and any

product-specific installation requirements are met

(see Section V Installation Prerequisites below).

3. Review the file USRGUIDE.PDF (in the subdirectory NSK_SW on this

CD) containing the IPSetup User Guide, which provides instructions

for using IPSetup, a utility provided on the CD that enables

installation of Independent Products. You need Adobe Acrobat Reader

(available on this CD) to read or print the IPSetup User Guide.

4. Follow the pre-installation instructions in Section II below before

continuing to Step 5.

5. Run IPSetup and uncheck the "Use DSM/SCM" box, to allow IPSetup to

move the NonStop Kernel files to the correct ISVs. Newer releases

of DSM/SCM may unpackage NonStop Tuxedo's PAX files, and NonStop

Tuxedo has not been tested with these releases to ensure that they

are compatible with actions performed by Tuxedo's Install.sh

script.

If TCP/IP and FTP are unavailable, or if you have problems with

automatic file placement, use the instructions in the IPSetup User

Guide section "Manual Software Placement Using the IPSetup TACL

Program" to manually move NonStop Kernel files.

NOTE: If you are installing LLE (SR74V1) at the same time as the

NonStop Tuxedo core services (SR71), HP recommends that first

you use IPSetup for both distribution CDs. This places all

the files on the HP NonStop server. Then install both the

components at once, rather than installing them sequentially.

6. Follow the post-installation instructions in Section III below,

after using IPSetup to place and install this product.

Discussion: If you try to install products using IPSetup and your user ID is listed in $SYSTEM.ZTCPIP.FTPUSERS, the installation fails at the point where IPSetup tries to transfer (with ftp) files from the PC to the HP NonStop server. This failure typically occurs when you install the product using the super.super ID and, for security reasons, the super.

Part of the installation procedure is to associate the executables in $TUXDIR/bin with the 128-bit versions of the NonStop Tuxedo SRLs in $SYSTEM.SYSTEM. Install.sh attempts to determine if the SRLs are open and warn the user against proceeding if they are open. HP recommends that all NonStop Tuxedo R8.0 applications using this TUXDIR be shut down before running Install.
