V4SE and V8SE Enclosures for NonStop S-Series Servers

2 Factory-Default Naming Conventions
HP manufacturing uses a naming convention for processes and devices that relates logical names
to the physical location of devices.

Processes, or Devices

group
is the group number of the enclosure, which one of these:
11-15
21-25
31-35
41-45
51-54
61-64
71-74
81-84
module
The module is 2 if this port is in an X-fabric V4SE or V8SE, or 3 if this port is in a Y-fabric
V4SE or V8SE.
slot
is the physical Ethernet slot number in the enclosure: 6 or 7
number
is the identifier for the first TCP/IP, TELSERV, or LISTNER process that is automatically
configured for a corresponding LIF. HP automatically configures the first identifier for these
processes. Thereafter, you should configure the remaining identifiers to their corresponding
LIFs. The value of number used by HP for the first identifier is always 0. (That is, the processes
are $ZTC0, $LSN0, and so on.) Thereafter, the second set of processes should use the value
1, the third set the value 2, and so on.
pif
is the Ethernet port’s physical interface (PIF). Ethernet ports and PIFs are interchangeable
terms. A V4SE or V8SE enclosure’s Ethernet port is part of the ServerNet LAN System Access
(SLSA) subsystem and has four PIFs: A, B, C, and D.
m
is an alphabetic value (A through Z) assigned automatically by the WAN manager process.
