Adding a Secondary Log
Example
Adding a Secondary Log
You can add a secondary log destination. A secondary log destination can be either a
disk file, a spooler, or a terminal. This secondary log contains all messages the VHS
process receives according to the type specified when configuring it. For example, you
can choose to log only Display messages to a particular spooler destination.
This command adds a secondary log destination which receives all Display messages:
-> alter process $vhsd, log $s.#vhslog, add, type display
Considerations
•
You can have only one secondary log destination.
•
The disk file names of the primary log destination, the prompt file, and the save file
are not accepted as valid file names for a secondary log destination. For the
primary log destination and the save file, the names are considered the same even
if the numeric part of the file name is different. This is to avoid future confusion
when a primary log file gets full and rolls over into another log file.
