Virtual TapeServer is factory-shipped with these default network configurations. Before making
any changes, obtain a new IP address, netmask, gateway and hostname appropriate for your
site from the network administrator.
IP address:

netmask:
255.255.255.0
gateway:
192.168.2.1
hostname:
TapeServer.yourdomain.com
To change the network configuration, you must connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse to the
Virtual TapeServer before powering it on. To change any default settings, make changes via
the console:
1. Log in as root.
2. At a command-line prompt, type startx and press Enter. The GUI launches.
3. From the OS menu, select System Tools > Network Device Control. This will take
you to the Network Configuration Screen.
4. Select the network device to alter (default is eth0) by double clicking the eth0 or eth1
selections available. This will take you to the Ethernet Device screen.
5. On the Ethernet Device screen, you can change the static IP settings, or you can let
DHCP apply the IP address. Once you finish setting the new IP settings, click OK to
return to the Network Configuration screen.
6. On the Network Configuration screen, select the DNS tab. On the DNS screen, enter
the name you want to assign to this Virtual TapeServer, the IP address of your DNS
server, and the domain (typically customername.com).
7. Once the DNS settings are revised, select File> Save to save the settings. You can
then safely exit from the application
8. To exit from the GUI, select Red Hat icon > Logout root.
