initiator SCSI ID of the host bus to which Virtual TapeServer is connected. The default
is 7.
nodename Generated by the system when Virtual TapeServer communicates with various
SCSI channels, either targets or initiators.
name Any name you give to the virtual drive.
tape type Media emulation format used by the tape drive. This entry also activates the icon
selected for the drive. If you want to emulate a different drive, the emulated drive
type must have been defined previously.
host type The host name previously chosen. If a match is found in Host Definitions, the
appropriate icon is used.
serial Reserved for future use.

4. Fill in the required fields and click Add Virtual Tape.
5. Return to Manage Tape Connections.
6. Select Add a Tape Connection.
7. Reconnect the host and logical tape you deleted in Step 2.
8. Repeat the procedure as needed.
Reconfiguring Virtual Tape Connections
Virtual TapeServer comes preconfigured with virtual tape connections. Virtual tape connections
can be edited to reflect exact connections between the different hosts and virtual tape drives.
Do this by connecting virtual tapes to logical tapes.
Making a virtual connection
1. Select Manage Connections > Manage Tape Connections.
2. Select Delete a Tape Connection and select the tape connection that uses the logical tape
you want to modify
.
Click Delete Tape Connection and return to Manage Tape
Connections.
3. Select Tape Connections > Add a Tape Connection.
