Configuring EMS Messaging on
NonStop Servers
1. From the NonStop server, create a new user login for Virtual TapeServer to use as
the Event Message Distributor. This login must be unique for each Virtual
TapeServer because it will begin sending Event Management Service (EMS)
messages to the screen upon login.
2. Access your Virtual TapeServer Supervisor Functions and select Edit Virtual
TapeServer Configuration File. You will see a screen similar to this:
3. Edit the entries:
a) Change ems_enable to YES if necessary.
b) Replace all instances of NONAME with the actual name of your NonStop
server.
c) Replace 192.168.2.93 with the appropriate IP address for your NonStop
server.
d) Replace $TAPE1 with the name of the appropriate tape device on your
NonStop server.
e) For each additional virtual tape space, type the drive name. For example:
 ems_hostdevs_DEV2=’$TAPE1 $TAPE2 $TAPE3
 ems_virtdevs_DEV2=’$VTAPE1 V$TAPE2 V$TAPE3
