second and third lines. On each line, specify the source cartridge name. The target
name is ABCABC specified on the first line, and "=" signs are again used on the last two
lines.
Alternately, you can use the wildcard shortcut by creating a one line jobset with the value
ABC* for the cartridge name, assuming ABC* does not identify more cartridges than the
ones you are working with. The asterisk is the only wildcard character accepted and can
be used only in the cartridge field. It can appear anywhere in the name, prefixed,
suffixed or in the middle. It can also appear by itself to designate all cartridges in the
pool.
How does VTS know which cartridge from the group to back up when the asterisk
wildcard is used in the cartridge name? If the default All Files checkbox (to be discussed
shortly) is not checked, Virtual TapeServer finds the cartridge identified with a wildcard
that has most recently been modified. In this case, it makes sense to specifically identify
the target cartridge name instead of using the double equal sign.
If the All Files default is checked, the opposite is true. It is very unlikely that you would
want multiple asterisk-identified source files backed up to the same destination cartridge
name. In this case, use the double equal sign in the target field.
Each jobset can specify many groups, or you can have a separate jobset for each group.
Job History. Shows a one line summary of what is running and what has completed.
Normally you see a § symbol on the left of each line. This symbol is a link to the
complete job log information for that job. Click § to display the job log.
Jobset. The next section identifies the jobset or Back up Set to create, edit, or dispatch.
Click NEW to create a new jobset or click an existing jobset. The jobset is displayed
below the next section. Lines are added and deleted by using the ADD and DEL buttons
that appear to the right of lines. At the end are buttons to save, abort, delete, or dispatch
the actual jobset.
Backup target system and Directory. This specifies the system to receive the backup
(specified by name or IP address) and the directory on that host. The directory string is
specified in UNIX notation as an absolute path and begins with the vault where the
backup will be made. The remainder of the string is specific to your environment.
Specify the target directory, target vault, and pool in the destination directory; for
example, /VAULT01/LIB01.
The double equal sign can be used in the target directory. Specify "==" for the pool
portion of the directory name to indicate the same pool as referenced in the source
entry, /VAULT01/==. Alternatively, use "*" instead of "==" to mean the same thing,
/VAULT01/*. Both formats are valid.
Secure Transfer. The secure method is required for AutoCopy. The secure transfer
method is not necessary for Instant/DR if the connection within between the two systems
