1. Set up network interface and hosts file.
This step needs to be done for each Virtual TapeServer using Instant/DR or
AutoCopy.
a) Login as root.
b) Enter the root password at prompt.
c) System responds with the command prompt [root@losangeles default]#.
Enter Startx. This starts the GUI interface for the OS.
d) From the GUI, click the RedHat icon (Start) at the bottom left.
e) Select System Settings from pop-up list.
f) Select Network from pop-up list.
g) Double click eth1.
h) Check the box next to Activate device when computer starts.
i) Choose Automatically obtain IP address.
j) Under DHCP settings, add the Hostname (newyork-idr in this example).
k) Choose “Statically set IP Addresses”.
l) Using information from the network administrator, fill in:
• IP Address: X.X.X.X
• Subnet Mask: 255.X.X.X
• Default Gateway: X.X.X.X
(In this example newyork-idr is configured with IP Address: 10.10.2.145, subnet
mask: 255.255.255.0, and default gateway: 10.10.2.1).
Note: eth1 must have a different IP subnet address then eth0.
m) Click OK.
n) Highlight eth1. Select Deactivate and then select Activate for the changes to
take effect.
