Virtual TapeServer Troubleshooting
Problem Diagnostics
Error 190 on SCF - Check power on Virtual TapeServer.
- Check SCSI conversion module. (Red
LED indicates power is on.)
- Check SCSI cable connections for bent
or loose pins.
- QTOS users must stop QTOS process
before stopping or starting a virtual drive
from SCF.
Error 224 on SCF - Verify virtual tape is 519X or 5257
definition.
- Confirm emulation by checking
debug.log for [filter] entry.
No response from Web
interface
- Check Ethernet cable.
- Check Ethernet connectivity and activity
LEDs.
Unable to manually mount
virtual cartridge
- Check the color of the cartridge label.
Gray indicates the cartridge is in use by
Import/Export or is remotely mounted.
- Verify the autoloading library that
contains the cartridge is not in use.
Cannot import a physical
tape
- Check tape drive for power.
- Check tape drive for tape ready
indicators.
- Check SCSI cable to tape drive.
- Check file system Free (Pct).
Cannot export a physical
tape
- Check tape drive for power.
- Check tape drive for tape ready
indicators.
- Check SCSI cable to tape drive.
Export failed - Check that the tape is in the drive.
- Check the media write-protection.
End of media message from
host
- Check File System Information in Library
maintenance for Free (Pct).
- Erase expired cartridges to clear disk
space.
Cannot access cartridge
because it is locked
- Check MEDIACOM for label in use.
- Check other Virtual TapeServers for
remotely mounted cartridges.
- Rebooting Virtual TapeServer clears all
local file locks.
No response from the Web
interface
- Try from a different workstation.
- Attempt to ping the address.
