Problem Diagnostics
No response by the tape
drive from SCF
- Check System Log for parity errors or
other SCSI related failures.
- Check power indicators on SCSI
conversion module.
- Check that the Virtual is connected to
the Logical on the View Configurations
Screen.
An autoload library did not
recycle.
- Verify that Autoloading or Recycle is
selected in the Library Maintenance
screen.
EMS automounting not
functioning
- Check TACL user ID for access
privileges.
- Check Ethernet cable.
- Check Ethernet connectivity and activity
LEDs.
- Click RESTART on Mount Maintenance.
- No virtual drives are available for host.
- Check Mount Maintenance for pending
mounts.
- Cartridge is in use.
- From the NonStop server:
>STATUS *, USER (username)
to see if EMSDIST process is active
- Check /usr/local/tape/log/ems.log.
Use the vi editor to open the ems.log and
go to the bottom of the log (by pressing
upper case G) to look for problems.
- Cartridge does not exist in the Virtual
TapeServer.
- Keying error on the restore or backup.
EMS mount is not satisfied. - Cartridge requested is in an autoloader
that is currently in use.
