Virtual TapeServer 6.03.42 Installation Guide
Enabling SecureVTS | 77
Installing the VPD file
If VTS was upgraded to 6.03.42, obtain an encrypted Vital Product Data (VPD) file (vpd.enc).
This file contains a tricryption ID, which enables VTS to communicate with the key server.
You must obtain a VPD file for each system on which SecureVTS will be enabled.
Note If you are using a 6.03.42 system, skip this procedure and go to Entering the license
key on page 78 to install your license key for the SecureVTS feature.
To install the VPD file
1. Obtain the vpd.enc file and save it in a temporary location. It is recommended that you
save this file on a system other than the VTS server. You must be able to browse to the
location using the VTS web interface.
2. If necessary, log in to the VTS web interface using an account that is a member of the
Administration group. Click the Log In button at the top of the page and enter a
username and password.
3. Click Supervisory Functions on the navigation pane.
4. Click Upload Vital Product Data (VPD) File. The following page is displayed:
5. Click Browse to locate and select the VPD file.
6. Click UPLOAD.
7. After the file is uploaded and validated, click INSTALL FILE.
8. On the VTS web interface, click SecureVTS Setup on the navigation pane. This reloads
the SecureVTS page and reads the VPD file.
