Virtual TapeServer 6.04.02 for NonStop Servers Release Notes
Known Issues | 11
Interrupt requests are disabled while VTS is idle. VTS may broadcast to all
terminals that it is disabling unused interrupt requests (IRQs). This can occur on systems
with an out-of-date BIOS, but the warnings may be safely ignored. (TL-1997)
File size limit of 2TB can be overridden through the Pool Management page in
the UI. If you set the virtual tape limit above 2TB, VTS will not get an EOM before the
file system reaches the file limit and fails the I/O to VTS. (TL-2171)
WORKAROUND: Set the limit to 2TB, which is the maximum setting.
Cartridge mounted too quickly after enabling tape server results in error code
102 and cartridge will not mount. After starting the TapeServer service on the
Supervisor Functions page, navigating to Virtual Media and mounting a cartridge fails
with an error of rc=102. (TL-1804)
WORKAROUND: Wait of 60 seconds or more to prevent error messages.
Virtual tape appears to be created in a locked pool but is not. If you attempt to
create a virtual tape in a pool that is locked, the operation fails even though the
“Successfully created” message is displayed. (TL-1903, EAR 4286)
Certain Access Control settings cause each update cycle to prompt for a
password. If Access Control for operations is set to one of the following, the web interface
prompts for a password three times every time a page refreshes: 'BASIC access', 'Vault
Access', 'Access to All Vaults', 'View System Status', 'Change Refresh Rate', 'Stop and
Start Tapeserver'. The dialog can be cancelled (and works correctly), but it will prompt
again on the next update cycle. (TL-1920)
WORKAROUND: Lengthen the browser’s refresh cycle to minimize the impact of this
issue.
Expanding a pool with a large number of cartridges takes a long time. Trying to
expand a pool with a large number of cartridges, such as 10,000, takes 4-5 minutes. (TL-
515)
Encryption allowed on cartridge exceeds cartridge limit. Encryption will cause the
size of the data to be larger than when it is unencrypted. If a cartridge contains the
maximum amount of data, encrypting the cartridge will cause the cartridge limit to be
exceeded. However, no error is given to indicate this situation. The cartridge can be
exported but if it is imported to a cartridge of the original cartridge limit size, the import
will fail. (TL-1168)
WORKAROUND: Import the cartridge to a cartridge whose size is larger than the
original cartridge limit size.
VTS does not check the tape label when writing to the tape. VTS does not check to
ensure that the label being written on the tape is the same as the name of the tape, thus
allowing for the possibility for a mislabeled tape. (TL-1051)
WORKAROUND: Delete the tape on the VTS host and recreate it with the correct label.
VTS allows a pool to be restored to a cartridge resulting in data not being stored
as expected. If an exported pool is restored to a cartridge, the data will not be restored as
separate cartridges but will be stored as regular data on one cartridge. (TL-1041)
WORKAROUND: Restore pools to pools, not cartridges.
Importing a pool into a different pool can create duplicate cartridges. When a
pool is imported, the cartridges are created. If the pool that is being used to import the
pool already has cartridges of the same name as the imported ones, duplication of
