WORKAROUND: Submit all license keys with surrounding characters removed. If a
quoted license key was submitted, on the Virtual TapeServer Licensing page, click the
Update checkbox, type or paste the correct license key, and then click SUBMIT. Doing
this will discard the invalid license key and replace it with the correct one.
 When restoring a SecureVTS key database, initial attempts may fail and
indicate that the file is not found. When restoring a SecureVTS key database with the
Restore from the Disaster Recovery option, initial attempts may fail and indicate that the
local backup copy is not found, which must be present to do a remote restore. (TL-1239)
WORKAROUND: Wait five minutes and attempt a restore from disaster recovery again.
 SecureVTS is disabled if the server is downgraded and then upgraded.
SecureVTS appears to remain configured after downgrading and then upgrading because
the license key is still present. However, the user is then unable to add a local keyserver.
(TL-1216)
WORKAROUND: Delete /usr/local/tape/etc/vts_secure and then resubmit the license key
from the web interface.
 EMS cancel mount attempts loop indefinitely after a failed mount of an
encrypted cartridge. A cancel mount request sent from a NonStop server after an
encrypted cartridge could not be serviced by VTS will attempt to cancel and fail the cancel
operation for approximately 10 minutes. (TL-1205)
WORKAROUND: Restart the TapeServer process.
 SecureVTS encryption operations performed when no key database backup
host is configured causes the web interface to remain busy for up to 10 minutes.
If SecureVTS encryption operations (creating an encrypted tape, encrypting an already-
existing tape) are attempted when no Key Database Backup/Restore Hosts are configured,
the web interface will appear busy for up to 10 minutes before displaying an error
message. (TL-1158)
WORKAROUND: Check backup host configurations within the SecureVTS section of the
interface to ensure that backups are configured and successful.
 Empty labeled encrypted cartridges may show a compression ratio. An encrypted
cartridge that is labeled and then decrypted will show 0 size and a compression ratio. Re-
encrypting that cartridge will continue to show a compression ratio. This does not reflect
the compression ratio that a cartridge will display once data is written to that cartridge
and can safely be ignored. (TL-1155)
 Empty, unlabeled encrypted cartridges may show a compression ratio. If a blank
cartridge is labeled and then encrypted, the cartridge shows a compression ratio. If a
blank cartridge is encrypted and then labeled, it does not show a compression ratio. The
file sizes of the two cartridges are slightly different. This does not reflect the compression
ratio that a cartridge will display once data is written to that cartridge and can safely be
ignored. (TL-1088)
 Encrypting a cartridge after it is created can take much longer than encrypting
a cartridge during creation. After-the-fact encryption can take up to eight times longer
than on-the-fly encryption. (TL-1150)
