Virtual TapeServer 6.04.03 for NonStop Servers Release Notes
Known Issues | 12
Cannot cancel pending mounts. The web interface indicates “Cancelled 0 pending
mounts” but pending mounts are re-queued and given new reqnums every six seconds.
The clearmount process attempts to match the reqnum of the pending mount. If they
match, the pending mount is cancelled. If they do not match, the pending mount is not
cancelled, as indicated by this message in the interface and log: “Error: clearmount found
no match in mount queue for reqnum 000000663”. (TL-3304)
WORKAROUND: Cancel the pending mount within six seconds of the page or refresh the
web interface and then cancel.
Segfaults occur during shutdown and reboot. A performance monitoring agent may
segfault during shutdown. This causes no system impact. (TL-3320)
Serial number can be autogenerated to include a single digit. Serial numbers can
be autogenerated as single digits, which may not be acceptable to host systems. The
autogenerated serial numbers are based on the BTLI of the drive. (TL-3946)
WORKAROUND: Specify a serial number or edit the serial number after it has been
autogenerated if it does not meet the needs of the host.
Corrupt virtual tape causes server to become unresponsive. If the VTS loses power
during a backup, causing the corrupt cartridge, the backup will fail. (It is likely that the
host running the backup will log a failure message.) As a result, VTS may become
unresponsive. (TL-3512)
WORKAROUND: Erase the resulting virtual tape and rerun the backup.
Operations fail and errors are logged when log files exceed 2GB in size. When a
log file grows to over 2GB in size in less than a day, some commands will fail and errors
similar to the following are logged. (TL-3139)
ERROR: C06001 is locked by Filesize limit exceeded.
WORKAROUND: Remove the log file or wait until VTS rotates the file at 4AM.
traceInit messages are logged to /var/log/messages. Messages similar to the
following are logged to /var/log/messages. These messages can be ignored. (TL-3151)
Jun 2 13:20:54 VTS06 slave: traceInit: Opening /proc/crds-trace
failed, No such file or directory
Tape can be mounted in deleted VTD and the tape remains locked. If you delete a
VTD, VTS still allows you to mount a virtual tape in the deleted VTD. No data is lost but
the tape is locked. This occurs if multiple windows are used and actions are performed in
one window and affect the actions taken in the other. (TL-3156)
WORKAROUND: Remove the lock using the Mounts and Locks page.
Date and time shown for locked cartridges is incorrect. The timestamp used for the
date and time when a cartridge is locked is incorrect. (TL-2551)
Error logged to /var/log/httpd/error_log when a cartridge is mounted. When
mounting a cartridge, an error similar to the following is logged in /var/log/httpd/
error_log:
vtmeta: Error /VAULT00/POOL1/CART1: Unable to lock file.
This is a logging issue only; the message can be ignored. (TL-2453)
