Resolved Issues and Enhancements
The following changes have been incorporated into the software since the 6.04.02 release.
Hardware and configuration
Maximum block size for host connections is 256k. Previously, this limit was not
documented. (TL-3810, EAR 5863)
General operations
Fibre Channel resources were lost after command was aborted. Previously, when
a Fibre Channel command was aborted, such as when the TapeServer process was
stopping or almost started up, some Fibre Channel resources were lost. After enough of
these, VTDs no longer processed incoming commands and became unresponsive. A reboot
was necessary to restore the lost resources in the FC driver. Now, in 6.04.03, the driver
recovers the resources when aborting the commands and does not run out of resources to
process new incoming commands. (TL-3740)
Compression information was not available for mounted cartridges in
autoloading pools. The pop-up dialog box for an unmounted cartridge did not show
compression information if another cartridge was mounted in the same autoloading pool.
This has been fixed. (TL-2436)
SNMPD error messages were generated during installation. After installation, the
following messages are in /var/log/snmpd.log. (TL-2289, TL-2288)
Oct 27 12:21:46 localhost snmpd[7983]: c64 32 bit check failed.
Oct 27 12:20:46 localhost snmpd[7983]: cmaX: sent ColdStarts on ports
25376 to 25393
Oct 27 12:20:46 localhost snmpd[7983]: error finding row index in
_ifXTable_container_row_restore
Performance degraded for tape writes. Performance degraded between the time
when the request for a tape to be loaded has was given and when the request for the
unmount of the tape was sent (when the backup was completed). This has been fixed and
performance has been improved by approximately 10%. (TL-3818)
Erasing a file reset the date written. When the cartridges were erased, the date
written was set to the current time instead of maintaining the previous written time. This
has been fixed. Now, if you mount, erase, or change VTS attributes on a cartridge, the
modification date will not change. However, the ctime (inode change time) will be updated
by default. The tape is altered to the current date after dismount when the
engine_KeepFileTimeChange parameter is set to NO in vts.conf. If set to YES, the date is
changed to the current date as soon as the tape mounts. The same occurs for the erase.
(TL-3900, EAR 5946)
VTDs now honor the SCSI Prevent and Allow commands. The Prevent and Allow
commands are now honored for unloading and moving virtual tapes. (TL-3668)
Duplicate cartridges were imported. It was possible to import duplicate cartridges by
importing a pool of cartridges into a different pool. This has been fixed. (TL-3169)
