Virtual TapeServer 6.04.03.02 for NonStop Servers Release Notes

Known Issues | 26
Mounts fails when ems_virtdevs and ems_hostdevs entries are delimited by
commas. In vts.conf, the entries for the ems_virtdevs_<HOST> and
ems_hostdevs_<HOST> must be separated by a space. Using a comma delimiter does not
work. (TL-2292)
If a mount command is sent to a non-existent virtual tape drive, VTS reports
that the tape is missing, not the drive. When a mount request is received by EMS, if
the request specifies a tape drive that is not configured on the VTS, VTS sends a
notification to the host that the tape is not found. It should send a notification that the
drive is not found. (TL-2293)
VTDs intermittently stop on NonStop if tapeserver is restarted repetitively. If
tapeserver is restarted several times in a row, the connection could be lost from the VTS
to host. (TL-1844)
WORKAROUND: Stop, reset, and restart the tape drive(s) from the host.
Device names beginning with $ result in ems_hostdevs and ems_virtdevs are not
logged. If VTS is used with an HP NonStop host and the device names begin with $, the
ems_hostdevs and ems_virtdevs values are blank in the log. This can cause confusion if
reviewing the logs. (TL-1562, EAR 4030)
AutoCopy and Instant DR
Adding backup host fails if ICMP is blocked. When adding a backup host, VTS
attempts to ping the backup server name. If ICMP is blocked, adding the backup host fails
even if SCP is configured and functioning properly. (TL-4371, EAR 6359)
Unlabeled cartridges are not copied to target server. Cartridges that are unlabeled
and have been written to from the host server are not copied to the target server during
AutoCopy. (TL-4286)
Instant DR allows the creation of cartridges with invalid names. Instant DR can
create a cartridge on the target server that contains an underscore or other special
character in the cartridge name. The Instant DR job succeeds and the pool with the
cartridge is created on the target. However, you cannot expand the pool on the web
interface; it disappears. (TL-4287)
Aborted error message listed in debug log when Instant DR job is dispatched.
When an Instant DR job is dispatched, the debug log displays this message, though
Instant DR function properly. (TL-3940)
Tue Dec 01 13:39:06 2009: IDR Backup Set "/usr/local/tape/etc/IDR/
IDR_JOB1.syncjob" already running; execution aborted!
Autocopy locks the source cartridge but not the target. The user should be able to
configure cartridge locking, with the default being that remote cartridges are locked. (TL-
2529)
AutoCopy may create pools on a server that could not otherwise be created.
AutoCopy may be used to create pools on a VTS server that could not otherwise be
created, such as having both a 'TEST' and a 'test' pool. (TL-868)
WORKAROUND: When using AutoCopy, you may need to review of all AutoCopy pools
to ensure that there are no duplicate pool names and correct for any such occurrences.
