Installation and Configuration | 4
Configuration
Complete configuration information is documented in the Virtual TapeServer Operations and
Administrative Guide.
Compatibility
This section describes interoperability of VTS with host servers, backup management
applications, and browsers. For a complete list of hardware and application compatibility, see
the HP Virtual TapeServer Compatibility Matrix.
Host server support
Note When connecting host servers over Fibre Channel to the VTS server, use one port per
host server, if possible. If connecting more than one host server through a switch,
ensure that the host servers are of the same type. Each Fibre Channel port on the
VTS server is configured to emulate one host type only. Host servers of differing types
must be connected to separate ports. Connecting multiple host servers to a single
SCSI port is not supported.
The following host servers are supported:
NonStop S-series
NS-series
Blade systems
However, the following host servers were tested for use with VTS.
HP Integrity NonStop NS1000 Server, H06.10.00 (Fibre Channel)
HP NonStop S7000, SCSI only
Tape drive emulation
VTS emulates the following tape drive types:
Fujitsu M2483B
HP Ultrium 1-SCSI
Sony DSX-500C
Quantum DLT7000
Quantum SDLT320
Compaq Network Services Division 5257

The following backup applications were tested and are supported for installation and use on
the VTS server:
Symantec Veritas NetBackup 6.5 and 6.5.4
IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.5
