and the VTS web application server, through Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This self-signed
certificate may cause your browser to display a certificate warning for the following reasons:
Many browsers warn you when a web application employs a self-signed certificate. These
certificates are not considered as secure as a certificate signed by a Certificate Authority.
When the VTS default self-signed certificate is created, a temporary hostname is used for
the appliance. During deployment, this hostname most likely changed. Many browsers
warn you when the hostname on the certificate and the hostname on the appliance do not
match.
When the browser displays this warning, accept the certificate or add an exception
(depending on your browser) and continue to the web interface. Refer to the browser help for
more information.
C. When prompted, log in by entering a username and password. (Authentication is required
once for each browser session. If this is the first time you are logging in, enter admin as the
username and virtual as the password. For a list of these accounts, refer to the Credentials
appendix in the Virtual TapeServer Installation Guide.
