Virtual TapeServer 6.04.04 for NonStop Servers Release Notes

Troubleshooting | 39
The “mount /dev/cdrom” command no longer works because CD media is
handled differently. The new VTS operating system (CentOS 5.2) handles removable
media mounting differently than in previous releases. Removable media is automounted
on /media through the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) without entries in /etc/fstab in
much the same manner as removable media in Windows XP. From the console, however,
media is not automounted. (TL-1755)
Linux kernel error message logged to /var/log/messages. Messages similar to the
following are logged to /var/log/messages:
Jul 10 16:23:23 localhost kernel: Contact your BIOS vendor to see if
the E752x error registers can be safely un-hidden
This is caused by a known Linux kernel driver issue for CentOS 5.2 and does not hinder
system operation. Ignore these messages. (TL-1853)
Must use the rewinding name of a drive for import_export_drive_exclude
parameter in vts.conf. When specifying devices to be excluded from imports or exports
using the import_export_drive_exclude parameter in vts.conf, be sure to use the
rewinding name of the drive rather than the non-rewinding name. That is, use '/dev/st0',
not '/dev/nst0'. (TL-1962)
Web interface
Logging in to web interface on localhost does not redirect to secure page. When
accessing the web interface from the localhost, HTTPS is not needed because data is not
transmitted. (TL-3643)
Browser may display old data or errors if not refreshed. If an unexpected error
occurs or data appears to be old, refresh the browser. Old data is cached and may need to
be cleared. (TL-1662)
Apache servers are prone to cross-site scripting weakness. VTS uses version 2.2.3
of the Apache server, which is vulnerable to CVE-2007-6203 under certain configurations.
However, the configuration shipped with VTS does not cause VTS to be vulnerable. For
more information, see the following URL. (TL-1985, EAR 4360)

A - is displayed for a cartridge limit for old cartridges. Cartridges that existed
before VTS was upgraded to 6.04.01 will display a - for the limit, but all new cartridges
will display 2TB if not given a limit. When the old cartridge is loaded writable, the size
limit will be updated to be writable, and the size limit will be updated to 2TB. (TL-2173)
File size of a mounted tape being written may not be updated. If a virtual tape is
mounted and being written to, the size shown on the page may not be updated until the
tape is dismounted. Normally, this value will be updated when file marks are written to
the tape, so usually this is not an issue for most users. (TL-881)
Migration
The 64-bit Networker 7.4 client cannot connect to the Windows 2003 64-bit
server. Networker 7.4 client running on VTS cannot be seen by Windows 2003 Server.
(TL-1836)
WORKAROUND: Install the 32-bit client.
