Virtual TapeServer 6.04.05 for NonStop Servers Release Notes
Known Issues | 15
If the controller ID and the host SCSI ID are set to the same value, kernel panics
occur. Kernel panics occur on VTS if two devices are set to the same ID. (TL-2303)
WORKAROUND: When using SCSI VTDs, make sure the SCSI controller ID is set to
something different than your host machine's SCSI ID. Contact your Support
representative if need assistance changing the controller ID.
Kernel panic may occur if SCSI VTD is edited while host is scanning devices. If
you change the bus and LUN of a SCSI VTD and the host is scanning devices, the system
may panic and the web interface may stop responding. (TL-4018)
Kernel panic may occur after creating VTDs. After creating VTDs, the system may
panic. (TL-2141)
WORKAROUND: Do not configure multiple devices to have the same bus, target, or
LUN values with different initiator values.
ACPI Exception messages are displayed and logged during boot. At boot time,
messages similar to the following may be displayed on the system console and in /var/log/
dmesg. These messages are benign and may be ignored. (TL-2280)
ACPI Exception (acpi_processor-0681): AE_NOT_FOUND, Processor Device
is not present [20060707]
ACPI: Getting cpuindex for acpiid 0x2
Trace messages may be displayed on the console. These messages can be ignored.
(TL-3032)
General operations
Server locks up if debug log consumes disk space. With debug log set to verbose and
if you run out of disk space, VTS “locks” up. (TL-144)
WORKAROUND: Compress (ZIP) or delete the debug log.
Backup performance can be impacted and debug log can grow significantly if
cinfo is performed on a bad virtual tape file. The following message will appear in
the debug log: [cinfo /VAULT01/SAVE/TM0131 vt] vt_read_block_header: Unable to read
block size information. Wanted 4, got 0. (TL-5077)
Warning messages during boot are displayed. These messages are displayed on the
console every time VTS boots and are ignorable. (TL-5954)
/var/www/media/app/models/transfer_agent.rb :18 warning: already
initialized constant STATUS_FAILURE_EXCEPTION
/var/www/media/app/models/transfer_agent.rb :19 warning: already
initialized constant STATUS_FAILURE_SHUTDOWN
Error “The bus, target and lun values are already in use” generated when trying
to create a VTD. Physical devices attached to a VTS automatically create virtual
devices. If the port to which a physical device was attached is switched to virtual mode,
the old physical devices remain represented on that port and pose a conflict for new
virtual devices. (TL-5960)
WORKAROUND: Remove old VTDs using the Manage Tape Connections page (click the
Advanced link at the bottom of the Manage Connections page).
