Virtual TapeServer 6.04.05 for NonStop Servers Release Notes

Known Issues | 19
To disable ISC, two parameters must be set. The
ems_InterSystemCommunication_hosts and interSystemCommunication_enable
parameters must be set to indicate that ISC should be disabled. Otherwise, ISC will still
be enabled. (TL-240)
WORKAROUND: To disable ISC, set these parameters in the VTS configuration file:
interSystemCommunication_enable="NO"
ems_InterSystemCommunication_hosts=""
Then, stop ISC from the Supervisor Functions page.
No activity or a “hung” command occurs when an import request is issued to a
physical drive that is unavailable. If a physical drive is unavailable (powered off,
cable disconnected, and so on), VTS does not properly handle the error and a timeout does
not occur, causing VTS to hang and require a reboot. (TL-61)
Web interface
This section has been subdivided to better classify the issues.
General
System Status page indicates that TEST_UNIT_READY command was processed
and complete, but no commands were processed. The System Status page indicates
that a TEST_UNIT_READY command was completed. If the user looks at this to
determine if VTS is communicating with the host, it is misleading. The
TEST_UNIT_READY command is command 0x0. This is the initialized value that the
server is holding, and the server does nothing to determine if that initialized value 0 is
what’s there, or if an actual TEST_UNIT_READY command has been processed.
(TL-4940)
Performance slows and the web interface becomes unresponsive if you close the
browser during a pool move. After the pool is moved, the web interface becomes
responsive again. The popup dialog box should indicate not to close the window or tab
while the pool move is in progress. (TL-4956)
Web interface may fail to allow the virtual media removal from the virtual tape
drive. VTS supports the SCSI command to prevent a medium from being removed from a
tape drive. If removal is being prevented by the host server, the VTS web interface may
fail to allow the virtual media removal from the virtual tape drive. (TL-5063)
WORKAROUND: Use the host server to remove media instead of the web interface to
remove the media.
Virtual tapes cannot be renamed. You cannot rename a virtual tape. (TL-4414, EAR
6411)
WORKAROUND: Create new virtual tapes with the desired name using the Advanced
Media Actions option on the Manage Virtual Media page.
Activity log on Import/Export page is not in chronological order. The log
messages are listed in random order. (TL-4391)
Editing a VTD without a license causes the VTD to be deleted. If the license is
removed and then you attempt to edit a VTD, the system deletes the VTD. (TL-3962)
