Virtual TapeServer 6.04.05 for NonStop Servers Supplemental Installation Guide

24 | Enabling and Configuring Data Replication
Instant DR and AutoCopy features have distinct advantages that may be specific to
individual sites or requirements. In general, Instant DR should be used if files do not change
much from day to day. AutoCopy is best used if files change often throughout the day. Keep
the following in mind when enabling these features:
Configuring network settings and TCP/IP security
You must configure network settings and TCP/IP security for all VTS locations if you wish to
use Instant DR and AutoCopy. To configure the local system, you must attach a monitor,
keyboard, and mouse to the VTS server. To configure remote systems, you must use a remote-
access application to access those systems, or perform the steps at each site. The IP address,
which will differ for each VTS server, must be configured at the local and remote sites.
Consult your network administrator to determine the gateway and subnet mask to use for
each system.
In addition, you should be familiar with networking concepts to complete the steps in this
section. Obtain the following information before beginning this procedure:
Root access to the VTS system; see the Virtual TapeServer Configuration Guide for a list
of the default accounts provided on the server
IP address, subnet mask, and gateway of each VTS server
